Is Blacklist one of your favorite TV show on NBC?

If so, you'll be happy to know that the network is getting ready to premiere a second drama franchise for the 2016-17 broadcast season. The network has greenlit The Blacklist: Redemption to series, marking its sixth new drama for next season. The Blacklist spinoff, a late-season order airing as a backdoor pilot May 12, starsFramke Janssen and the flagship series' Ryan Eggold.

"The negotiations between producer Sony TV and NBC went into the night on Friday. It took more time for the indie studio and the network to hammer out agreements this year because NBC, like ABC, had added a new requirement for all new series, in-season stacking rights." (Deadline)

Thursday’s episode of The Blacklist served as a backdoor pilot for the project, focusing on Janssen’s mysterious Scottie Hargrave and the contractors that make up her organization, including Mr. Solomon (Edi Gathegi) and Nez Rowan (Tawny Cypress).

From Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment, the drama was penned by Jon Bokenkamp and JohnEisendrath and exec producers alongside John Davis and John Fox. Michael Dinner directed the pilot. The show is also produced by John Eisendrath Productions, Flatwater Scribe and Davis Entertainment.

In this thrilling new spinoff of NBC’s breakout hit series, undercover operative Tom Keen joins forces with Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Janssen), the brilliant and cunning chief of Grey Matters, a covert mercenary organization that solves problems governments don’t dare touch. While on the hunt for Liz’s attacker, Tom secretly discovered that Scottie is actually his biological mother. Now, as they team to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom begins his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past.

While NBC's schedule will be revealed Sunday, sources say the spinoff is likely to land a slot on NBC's midseason lineup.
